Building leadership capability is critical to the long-term effectiveness of not-for-profit organisations. McKinsey research indicates that leadership development and capability building represent among the most significant opportunities to strengthen organisational health, performance, and mission delivery across the sector. Yet many not-for-profit leaders have fewer opportunities for structured leadership development than their peers in the for-profit sector.
That's why we developed Mission Delivery, a series of standalone programs for leaders of not-for-profit organisations and social enterprises in Australia and New Zealand. With more than 12,000 leaders participating to date, the program is designed to give participants the space for reflection, introduce new tools, and develop peer connections to support effective leadership.
In 2026 we will run a series of programs for not-for-profit leaders:
Programs for Board Directors, CEOs and Executives, and Team Leaders have overlapping content. Participants are encouraged to attend only one of these programs based on their role. Past participants are welcome to reattend, noting that content remains similar to previous years.
Mission Delivery programs are fee-waived for leaders currently working in eligible not-for-profit organisations or social enterprises. This excludes for-profit consultancies, government entities, industry-backed peak bodies, and political or religious advocacy groups. For eligibility questions, contact leadership-capability@mckinsey.com.
